Your birds, your data, your journal. We built hudhud on a simple principle: what happens in your yard stays in your yard.
"We don't sell your data. We don't share it. We don't analyze it. hudhud works entirely on your device, and that's intentional."
By default, hudhud collects nothing. The app runs entirely on your device. Your feeding logs, species notes, photos, and journal entries never leave your device unless you choose to back them up.
If you opt in to cloud backup or device sync, we store:
We do not collect your name, location, contacts, browsing history, or any data unrelated to your use of the app.
To be explicit about it:
There are no ads in hudhud and there never will be. We have no business model that benefits from knowing about your birds.
Local data is stored using your device's standard encrypted storage. If you enable cloud backup:
You can delete your backup at any time from the app's settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent on our servers.
hudhud can optionally use your approximate location to set regional bird species defaults and to tag feeding entries with a rough location label (e.g., "Portland, OR"). If you grant location access:
Photos you attach to entries are stored locally and (if backup is enabled) in your encrypted backup. EXIF metadata is stripped before storage.
If you enable feeding reminders, hudhud uses your device's local notification system. No notification content passes through our servers. Turning off notifications in your device settings disables them completely.
hudhud is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
You have the right to access, correct, export, and delete any personal data we hold. Because most data lives on your device, you exercise most of these rights directly in the app:
For anything else, email us at privacy@hudhud.life. We'll respond within 30 days.
If we ever change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll notify you in the app and update the date at the top of this page. We will not retroactively apply weaker privacy practices to data collected under stronger ones.
Questions about privacy belong in someone's inbox, not a contact form. Write to us directly:
